The North American P-51 MUSTANG is undoubtedly one of the most famous aircraft in the history of military aeronautics. It is considered the best single-seat piston engine fighter of WWII. One of the first versions produced, the P-51A was used in combat as early as 1942. It used the new Allison V-1710 engine allowing it to reach a maximum speed of over 650km/h, and was armed with four 12.7mm Browning machine guns installed in the wings which ensured good firepower. The already significant autonomy of the plane could be increased with the adoption of two tanks under the wings. It was used by the US Air Force and the British Royal Air ForceMUSTANG Mk.II, immediately achieving excellent operational results in air defense, bomber escort and tactical support missions.
