They are resilient in producing power no matter if they are cracked, as long as the circuit is still intact, they produce power. Early satellite type panels.

    Description

    This auction is for one  10 GaAs solar panels measuring 2 inches x 1 inch each.  I bought these many years ago on ebay and have used many of them for projects, experiments and hobbies.
    These panels are >1mm thick, very thin.  If they break, the remaining pieces that are connected to the circuit will still produce power.  1.5 volts output per full panel.  1/3 of a panel produces 1/2 volt.
    The original buyer said they were left over (extras) from a satellite development.  I cannot find his name, but he claimed to work with satellite makers many years ago.
    Each panel has a serial number (pictured).
    These panels were developed to work in space, extreme temperatures, they hold up to chemicals, heat, cold, but are very fragile to the touch.  I used a double layer of 1/4in thick plexi to secure the panels and keep them safe during use.
    GaAs is a faster conveyor of current than silicon. And, GaAs IC's consume less power. But GaAs is significantly more expensive and harder to come by than silicon. Gallium is worth almost as much or more than gold, so these are expensive to produce and never were used in mainstream electronics.
