  • Condition: This is an original document from 1938. The condition is excellent. It is mounted on a block of plywood, with a plexiglass covering to protect this document. The wood block measures: 9 1/4 inches in width, by (almost) five inches in height. The wood and the plexiglass cover are nearly an inch thick. There is an existing hanger on the back of this mounting for wall hanging. It is all in excellent condition. One corner of the wood has a very small boo boo (upper left corner), just a very small indentation in the corner, where it was likely dropped many years ago. This certificate (or receipt) was folded at one point in time, probably residing in the gold seller's wallet for a few days. The creases are not invisible, but they are very tiny.

    Description

This is an original California, gold sales report. It is dated: 4/2/1938.  This is from a Trinity River gold claim, from Douglas city, California, with a gold license #244. The seller, Edward Leo Julippi, sold 9 1/2 grains of gold, for the amount of .95.
FYI., 9 1/2 grains, equals 0.616 grams of gold.  As of this date, a gram of gold is worth .15.  9 1/2 grains of gold (a tiny amount of gold) would be worth .05 in 2023.  It takes 28.35 grams of gold to equal one ounce.  There is likely, more value in the novelty of this item than the gold sale it represents.  Not a bad ROI for an item 85 years old.
This will be a conversation piece for someone that draws much interest...
