    1959 ACEE BLUE EAGLE Oklahoma Indian Souvenir Knox Gas Tumblers, Pitcher & Tray
    Thank you for looking at my auction and hope you enjoy what is being offered for sale. We search estate sales, auctions, garage sales and pick in search of items to bring to you.
    The famous Oklahoma Indian set of eight glasses and pitcher came out in 1959, the year of the death of
    Acee Blue Eagle
    . Knox Industries had commissioned Blue Eagle to produce eight paintings to be reproduced on tumblers. Knox Industries made the glasses available with a 10-gallon purchase of gasoline.
    Today, there is a small but extremely dedicated cadre of collectors who value these glasses highly for their historical significance and for their beauty. The subject matter is truly worthy and significant. The set with the wooden tray is even more prized.
    The eight Indians portrayed by Blue Eagle are:
    Ruling His Sun
    ,
    Pawnee
    ;
    Sequoyah
    ,
    Cherokee
    ;
    Geronimo
    ,
    Apache
    ;
    Hunting Horse
    ,
    Kiowa
    ;
    Bacon Rind
    ,
    Osage
    ;
    Quanah Parker
    ,
    Comanche
    ;
    Dull Knife
    ,
    Cheyenne
    ;
    and
    Hen-Toh
    ,
    Wyandot
    .
    Each glass and the pitcher are signed
    Blue Eagle
    . The pitcher features a full-length portrait of
    Dull Knife
    .
    The wooden tray appears to be made of pine. There are 5/8-inch depressions for the glasses, a corral for the pitcher, and handles at each end of the tray. Decorations are carved into the tray top and sides and include thunderbirds, the State of Oklahoma, lightning bolts, and geometric items. It appears that they are highlighted by wood burning techniques.
    The best known of these sets is the set with 6-
    ½” frosted glasses. Besides the frosted glasses, there is a lesser-known clear set of 5-1/4” glasses. These glasses are wide at the top and narrow at the bottom. The designs are the same on both sets of glasses, as are most of the colors, but the designs are smaller on the clear set.
    Condition
    : The pitcher shows a little aging and has a small pin hole, skip, on the frosted glass background, possibly a manufacture flaw. The images are nearly perfect with no detail loss fo images. This is a very clean and a set that is complete and you won’t find in better condition for something 62 years old.
