    Description

Eight (8) photographs (just over 4” square), with the original negatives, of a Texaco filling station and a 1952 Dodge in Moosup, Connecticut, by Foster Caddell, circa 1950s. The series of eight photographs show a 1952 Dodge four door sedan getting gas at a service station in a village. Four of them show a young man in work clothes pumping gas. A large Texaco sign is visible in most of the views, and a few show the old gas pumps with Texaco glass globes too. One of the pumps has the Texaco fire helmet logo on the front. A large banner advertises a motor oil. Other cars are visible in the background, along with a few other buildings with stores. I believe these photographs were taken by the artist Foster Caddell of nearby Voluntown, Connecticut, and the Dodge is likely his car. There are eight negatives that go along with the photos. I have taken the photos off the sheets of card stock—the masking tape came off cleanly leaving no residue or damage. The eight photographs are in good or better condition. They exhibit good or better tonal range and show good or better detail. A nice lot of Moosup CT gas station photographs!
