Description
A type of Indo Persian knife that was designed to pierce the chain mail popular at the time of its origin.The hand forged blade has a somewhat T shape along the spine and tapers to an almost needle point.
The T shape proved very effective in re enforcing the needle nose blade wen piercing cain mail or quilted armour.
The blade is hand forged with laminations showing. Is mounted on a brass and bone hilt with a flaredpommel providing an effective grip. The hilt is held by four rivets.
There is a small panel of silver ornamentations at the ricasso where the blade enters the brass hilt mount
The scabbard is leather. Rough side out in order to be carried in the belt without slippage.
This knife is from the Mahaud People in the Kyber Region of North West India.
