Today we are happy to offer for sale a rare antique Exhibit Supply Co. Novelty Card Vendor machine. A bit of info on Exhibit Supply Company (ESCO):
The Chicago-based Exhibit Supply Company (1921-1964) was headed by J. Frank Meyer and manufactured arcade vending machines that dispensed different series of postcard-sized souvenirs. Printed on thick, cheap, cardboard stock, the cards were printed single color photolithography and featured travel postcards, horoscopes or photos of young women described as “art models.” Typically the card dispensing machines were found in penny arcades, shooting galleries, and anywhere you could park a vending machine. The company released over 390 machines.
This 1920's Novelty Card Vendor machine is nicely crafted and detailed. it features a solid wood case with two working coin/penny slots and glass-fronted compartment with two cards side by side. The reverse side features the back compartment door with original lock. Inside the door are the original instruction and manufacturer's suggestions for improving sales. The interior features two separate compartments for cards. Included with this sale are two sets of cards, one with silent movie stars of the 1920's and the other with Western movie stars of the era. The piece is marked on the bottom with the ESCO logo.
Machine is in good antique condition, with normal wear and patina commensurate with age. Case has an old age-related stable fracture to right side. To our limited knowledge most components appear intact and original, although it appears the inner coin drawer is missing and perhaps other internal parts are missing as well?  Please inspect photos carefully and ask questions if this is important to you as we are not experts in these machines.  No key. This rare ESCO novelty card machine will make a fine addition to any antique arcade game or trade stimulator collection, and a super cool addition to any man-cave out there...Fresh to the market from a Providence, RI estate!
