    Description

A fine example of a Moro Matidto, (Straight) blade kris. Crafted by the Maguindadao Tribe who live on the west coast of Mindanao. The dark hard wood hilt is adorned with a silver band at the top and at the base. The top band appears to be held in place by hand made copper nails. The lower silver band is crowned by a hand woven band of cord. The tassel of braided Ikat attached to the sword by some former Moro owner. The sword was acquired by us 23 years ago when the Butterfield & Butterfield auctioned a massive Moro Collection. The hand forged blade is in excellent condition as is the overall state  of the Kris. The catalogue number in red was from the previous collection.
Based on construction possibly late 19th C.
The blade is 21.75", Overall length 26".
