Description
I am selling an assortment of vintage to antique jewelry and rings which I have hunted for and gathered from around the world. Please see my other offerings and thanks for stopping by!ABOUT:
Eye catching antique French solid silver charm bracelet with snake skin textured links and little star patterns on the top of the chunky links. On the end is charm - a large cushion cut yellow citrine gemstone set in a silver bezel. The spring ring holds both ends of the bracelet together and is completely removable so please note that. Has an almost gun metal darker patina but it is solid silver and hallmarked.
This charm came from a set of cufflinks.
Antique piece that I acquired in France in 800 solid silver which is the silver standard there, both pieces are from the early 1900s. You'll see in the photos of the back that the links are actually hollow / curved silver so it is more lightweight than if the links were silver all the way through, but it presents as a nice chunky statement piece.
MEASUREMENTS:
Chain is a little over 7 1/2 inches in length. Green spinel charm is 13.5mm by 11mm. Weighs almost 19.4 grams.
MARKS:
One loop is stamped with the boar's head mark for French solid silver. The other loop is stamped "Depose"which is the French word for "Registered". It is very similar to our copyright - so it is signifying not only "made in" but also "copyrighted" design. The citrine gem is also set in solid silver but there is no hallmark as it was stamped on the other part of the cufflink.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned with some age to them so they are in estate condition. The spring ring does not have a little loop attaching it to the chain, so the spring ring holds the loops on both ends together. It can be a little tricky to pry it open with the charm there, but the spring ring functions well. It's just that it is completely removable from the piece if that makes sense, because the opening of the spring ring holds the loops on both sides, instead of having a smaller loop connecting it to the chain. Hopefully you can see what I mean in the photos.
It is 100 years old or more so there is some surface wear and scratches. Some of the links have more patina than others but it could probably be polished up further, it is just difficult to get at all the intricately woven links. So it presents almost gunmetal in color with the dark patina. Considering that the chain links are hollow in the back, they have held up well, I don't see any crimps or dents or misshapen links. The charm looks excellent with just a bit of surface wear. Note that the charm does hang downward because the loop is in the back center of the piece, but it looks nice and dangles freely as a charm. But Please note that due to age, this piece is not in mint condition.
I have many more antique pieces listed so please see my other items and thanks for stopping by!
