This car is now being offered at auction and included with the sale is a copy of the cover page of the club newspaper.The article mentions that Jake La Motta is AMRCC # CM-16 of Nutley, NJ In this 1983 publication it states that Jake has been building the little cars since 1938.These cars are made from his original patterns and molds that he made between 1938 and 1950. Jake was an old time cable racer, who raced most of the New York and New Jersey tracks back in the 1940s and early 1950s.
This is a Jake La Motta Special #1 mite car. It is a fully completed and detailed mite size car painted cream and maroon with a number 1 hand painted on the tail.The Mc-Coy engine and gears were installed by Butch Marx back in the day.
This La Motta Special #1 was made by Jake La Motta using his own original patterns and molds. It is sand cast aluminum. The body from the tail to the front axle measures 11 1/4". The body width is 2".
The exposed chassis is polished and the axles, leafsprings, tyrods, exhaust pipe, grill, offy stacks, radiator grill and gas cap were all designed and polished by Jake La Motta. The wheels are Jake La Motta turned aluminum with his personal knock offs. The tires are embossed 'LA MOTTA' from Jake's personal molds. The La Motta "Special" on the hood is a La Motta decal. On both sides of the bottom of the pan is a decal saying "La Motta Race Cars Since 1935".
