Rock Kits: Igneous; Sedimentary; Metamorphic; Each kit is in a sturdy, lidded, cardboard box with approximate dimensions of 12" x 9" x 2.25". The Sedimentary and Metamorphic kits include a squirt bottle of 10% hydrochloric acid to test for effervescence. Each rock sample is numbered for easy reference, and each sample is about 2" to 4" wide. The Igneous kit includes: 1) obsidian; 2) scoria; 3) pumice; 4) basalt; 5) andesite; 6) rhyolite; 7) gabbro; 8) diorite; 9) granite; and 10) peridotite. The Sedimentary kit includes: 1) conglomerate; 2) coal; 3) sandstone; 4) fossiliferous limestone; 5) shale; 6) gypsum; 7) rock salt (halite); and 8) fine-grained limestone. The Metamorphic kit includes: 1) marble; 2) gneiss; 3) phyllite; 4) slate; 5) schist (rutilated); and 6) serpentinite.
