    Description

    Original vintage photograph.
    It measures approximately
    3 1/4 x 4 1/2
Inches. This photograph is of a battalion political commissar Mazit Gainullovich Halimov. He was born in 1900 and joined RKKA in 1919 during the Russian Civil War, for 20 years of service he received the medal thats on this photo. During WWII he was a political commissar in the 4th Guards Cavalry Division and 156 Rifle Brigade. He received many awards during WWII for his political work (see screenshot). He was among the liberators of Warsaw. You can see his glorious battle path on one of the screenshots.
Interesting fact: During WWII German soldiers were ordered not to take any political commissars as prisoners by the German high command, and execute them on the spot because they were considered enforcers of "Judeo-Bolshevism" ideology in the military forces.
