Description
Original vintage photographs.They measure approximately
3 x 4
Inches. This photograph is of a political commissar Peter Mikhailovich Skoryi. During WWII he was a politruk, the chief of political department in the 6th Guards Tank Army moto-engineers brigade. He earned many awards for his political work, because of his guidance his brigade built pontoon bridges, deactivated anti-tank mines, removed anti-tank barricades, did engineer
reconnaissance
work. (see screenshot) After the capture of Germany he went on to fight the Japanese imperialists in Manchuria, he received the order of the Red Banner for his service there. He was also a defender of Stalingrad and Moscow.
Interesting fact: During WWII German soldiers were ordered not to take any political commissars as prisoners by the German high command, and execute them on the spot because they were considered enforcers of "Judeo-Bolshevism" ideology in the military forces.
